What Does Being Chosen as a Finalist Mean?

Being chosen as a finalist means that you have met both the academic and income requirements of QuestBridge, and have written a compelling application.

As a finalist, you are eligible to participate in the Match Process part of QuestBridge's College Match Program. Finalists who "match" in the process are awarded full academic scholarships. Finalists have to actively choose to participate in the Match Process.

Making the Decision to Participate - Binding Nature of Participation

As a finalist, you have the ability to participate in the Match Process. You must opt-in to participate. Participating in the Match Process prohibits you applying to other colleges for Multiple Choice Early Action, Single Choice Early Action or Early Decision. In exchange for foregoing these other options, the Match Process offers you the following benefits:

    1. The College Match Process is a special program offered only to students who have qualified as Finalists. Outside of the College Match, it is extremely rare to go through college without loans or parental contributions.
    2. The QuestBridge College Match is unique in that students who are matched with one of our partner colleges receive full scholarships. Your parents will not have to pay anything and you will never need to take out loans (Wellesley requires a small loan, and Stanford may include a small loan for students with household incomes over $45,000). Please review the College Match scholarship packages offered by each school.
    3. Whereas normally you can select to apply to only one college through the early decision/action process, through the Match Process, students can apply early to all of our partner colleges.
    4. Last, but certainly not least, our partner colleges are some of the best in the nation. Please visit our college partner pages to learn more about each college and their strengths.

Completing Final Ranking Form and Participation Agreement

You must fill out and submit the Final Ranking Form before Nov. 1, 2006, 11:59pm Pacific Time. You are able to rank up to 10 schools. Please rank the schools in ascending order: your top choice is rank #1, next choice #2, etc. Not filling out this form equates to not participating in the Match Process. Also, ranking no schools is the equivalent of not participating.

Please print out the Match Participation Agreement. Both you and a parent/guardian must sign this agreement. You must complete and fax the signed form to 650-653-2516 by November 1, 2006, 11:59pm Pacific Time.

CSS Profile, Tax Forms and School-Specific Financial Aid Forms - November 1, 2006

You must submit your CSS Profile to all of the colleges on your final ranking list by November 1 (Princeton and Wheaton don't require the CSS profile).

Please create an account with https://profileonline.collegeboard.com/index.jsp and complete your CSS profile there. When asked to select which colleges you want a copy of your CSS Profile sent to, please select each of the colleges you have ranked for the College Match. Based on information you enter in the CSS Profile, you may be eligible for up to 6 fee waivers, and will be notified by the College Board before you are asked for payment. Also, you may check with your guidance counselor to obtain this fee waiver information.

You must also submit copies of your parents' tax forms and W-2s to each school that you rank by November 1. You also need to submit the tax forms and W-2's for your non-custodial parent if you still have contact with him/her. Please use these school-specific fax cover sheets when faxing in this information.

For Columbia, Princeton, Swarthmore, and Wheaton, you also need to fill out school-specific financial aid forms and submit them by November 1. They are available here: Columbia Application for Need-Based Financial Aid, Princeton Financial Aid Application (PFAA), Swarthmore Financial Aid Application, and Wheaton's QuestBridge Supplement

Important Note for Columbia, Princeton, Stanford and Wheaton

Columbia, Princeton and Stanford require that you fill out their online application in order to be able to eligible for a College Match Scholarship. If you filled out their online supplements, then this should simply be an exercise in copying and pasting. All of the questions on their applications have already been completed on the QuestBridge application and/or supplement.

    Princeton - Nov 1
    Columbia, Stanford - Nov 15

Also, Wheaton requires that you fill out their QuestBridge supplement by Nov 1 in order to be eligible for their College Match Scholarship package. This supplement is the same form discussed in the previous section. It contains both financial and non-financial questions. It should only be filled out and submitted once.

    Meet the Other Finalists

Please meet other finalists from around the country on our forum.

    Updating Standardized Test Scores

If you faxed or mailed your test scores to QuestBridge, then we have forwarded them to our college partners along with your application. Please submit any test score updates (from October test dates) directly to the schools you rank by submitting the College Board or ACT's registration forms. Also email your updated scores to us at update@questbridge.org
