FAQ for Non-Matched QuestBridge students applying to Princeton University through Regular Decision ('08 - '09)

I am a QuestBridge Finalist, but I wasn't matched with Princeton. I am still interested in the University. May I apply Regular Decision?
If you ranked Princeton on your match form and sent in a Princeton/Common Application, we will automatically roll you into our Regular Decision pool and consider you for admission. If you no longer wish to be considered by Princeton, you must send us a signed letter saying that you wish to withdraw your application.

You must submit a Princeton Application or the Common Application with the Princeton Supplement to activate your Regular Decision candidacy. We will not review students who only submit QuestBridge applications.

I didn't get matched with Princeton, is there an appeal process?
No. If you were not selected in the Match process, your application will be given full consideration in the Regular Decision pool. All QuestBridge students still remain viable candidates for admission to the University.

What materials do Regular Decision applicants need to send to Princeton?
  • We require all students to submit the Princeton Application or the Common Application with the Princeton Supplement in addition to the QuestBridge application. This is due January 1, 2009, and we highly recommend that students submit their portion by December 15, 2008. If you already submitted the Princeton/Common Application during the College Match process you do not need to resubmit one.
  • To receive financial aid, you must submit the Princeton Financial Aid Application (PFAA). The PFAA will be available online on December 1st. We recommend you submit the PFAA by January 15th. February 1st is the final deadline. General information about our financial aid can be downloaded at http://www.princeton.edu/admission/financialaid. Please do not send us your 2007 tax forms. You will need to send your family's 2008 tax forms when they are available. Also you do not need to have the CSS Profile sent to us. However, if you file the FAFSA, please make sure to release the information to Princeton.

Both the Princeton Application and the Princeton Financial Aid Application can be filled out online at https://cas.princeton.edu/sso/login.
  • All applicants should have their SAT Reasoning or their ACT with Writing scores sent directly to us from the testing agency. In addition, we require students to take three SAT Subject Tests. These scores should be sent directly by the testing agency to us as well. January will be the latest you can take these tests and have the scores considered in our process. Princeton's College Board number is 2672, and our ACT college code is 2588.
  • Please have your Secondary School Report, two letters of recommendation from teachers in academic subjects, and your official high school transcript sent directly to our office. They should be sent to:

      Admission Office
      Princeton University
      P.O. Box 430
      Princeton, NJ 08542-0430

I really needed the scholarship that the College Match program provided. How good is Princeton's Regular Decision financial aid?
Our financial aid packages for those admitted in Regular Decision will be the same as if those students had been matched in the College Match process. Princeton has excellent financial aid for all students with demonstrated need. We have a need-based financial aid policy, and we fulfill 100 percent of demonstrated need. In addition, we do not require students to take out loans. As a result, you can graduate from Princeton without debt. Check out our Early Estimator website at http://www.princeton.edu/admission/financialaid/estimator to get a sense of what a financial aid package might look like for you.

Once enrolled at Princeton, all financial aid recipients reapply for aid every year. The University will continue to meet your demonstrated need in your subsequent years. For additional information, please review Princeton's general financial aid information on QuestBridge's partner pages site at http://www.questbridge.org/cmp/schship_pkgs/princeton.html.

When are QuestBridge students notified if they were admitted to Princeton in the Regular Decision process?
You will be notified along with all other Regular Decision applicants. Students receive notification in early April.
