Available Majors and Career Preparation

  • Vassar offers 1,000 courses, 29 departments, 6 interdepartmental programs, 12 multi-disciplinary programs, and allows students to design their own course of study through the Independent Program. Learn more about programs and departments at Vassar.

  • Interested in being Pre-Med? Vassar offers a variety of science programs to prepare students to apply for medical school, inlcuding majors and programs of study in biology, chemistry, and physics and astronomy. Vassar also offers Pre-Health advising.

  • Interested in pre-law? No course or study or major is required for being pre-law, but Vassar offers majors that may appeal to pre-law students, including political science. Vassar also offers pre-law counseling through its Career Development Office.

  • Interested in Engineering? Under the Vassar-Dartmouth Dual Degree Program in Engineering, Vassar students spend their junior year at Dartmouth's Thayer School of Engineering. They return to Vassar for their senior year to receive their degrees, and then have the option of returning to Dartmouth for an additional year to earn a general engineering degree.

  • Interested in Business? Vassar offers majors in Economics and Mathematics to prepare student for future work in business.
