Outside Scholarships
Outside scholarships can be applied to the the work-study requirement. Scholarships in excess of $1700 will be used to reduce the Claremont McKenna grant. Students may also choose to replace the work-study contribution with a loan.

Health Insurance
Claremont McKenna requires all students to have health insurance, either through a parent or another plan. If student is not covered by a parental plan, the Claremont McKenna grant will be increased to pay for the $963 Claremont student health plan. This does not cover the cost of co-pays or other non-reimbursable medical expenses.

Other Details
The Claremont McKenna scholarship will cover up to $450 in books each semester.

Personal expenses will be subsidized by the student’s work-study income.

Students must pay a $190 refundable housing deposit during the summer before arriving on campus. This and other fees (for labs, music lessons, etc.) are the responsibility of the student.

The travel allowance is determined by Claremont McKenna and will vary depending on student location. Changes to the travel allowance will affect the Claremont McKenna grant dollar for dollar.

The expected student summer work contribution will increase every year, as follows:
    First year: $1650
    Second year: $1850
    Third year: $2050
    Fourth year: $2250
