Stanford University Match Scholarship For high school students applying to the National College Match in 2007
Stanford's scholarship package must be renewed every year.
Stanford expects students and their parents to contribute toward educational costs to the extent they are able, but Stanford will make up the difference when families aren't able to cover the costs. Stanford evaluates applications and family circumstances individually based on several factors including total family income, family size, number of family members in college, and any extenuating circumstances such as high medical costs. For students from families with total income less than $45,000 per year and straightforward financial situations, parents will not be expected to contribute toward educational expenses. Families with slightly higher incomes, from $45,000 to $60,000 for example, will be asked to contribute based on their individual situations. The expected parent contribution for those families could be as low as $0 and averaged $3,500 last year. Students from families with total income less than $45,000 per year and straightforward financial situations will be offered financial aid packages that look like the package below. The difference for students from families with slightly higher income would be an expected parental contribution based on the family situation. This is an example of a typical financial award for a low-income first year student. Actual amounts may vary. Outside Scholarships Outside scholarships can be used to reduce the work-study contribution. Scholarships in excess of that amount will be used to reduce the Stanford grant dollar for dollar. Health Insurance Stanford requires all students to have health insurance, either through a parent or another plan. If student is not covered by a parental plan, the Stanford grant will be increased to pay for the $2,052 Stanford student health plan. Other Details Students will receive assistance for other expenses including unreimbursed medial expenses and attendance at Stanford's Overseas programs. A travel allowance will be determined by Stanford based on student location. The Stanford grant will be increased to account for this. Students may choose to replace their earnings contribution with a loan.
