Outside Scholarships Outside scholarships may be used to reduce a student's work-study contribution. Scholarships in excess of $1,720 (for the first year) will reduce the Vassar grant. Health Insurance Vassar requires all students to have health insurance, either through their parents or another plan. If student is not covered by a parental plan, the Vassar grant will be increased to cover the $420 student insurance plan. Other Details Students are expected to contribute 25% of their personal savings toward college expenses. This will be used along with work-study and summer income to cover the costs of travel, books & supplies, and personal expenses. The cost of travel will vary depending on student location. The expected contribution from student work will increase every year, as follows:
Second year: $1930 (work/study), $1800 (summer work) Third year: $2150 (work/study), $1800 (summer work) Fourth year: $2150 (work/study), $1800 (summer work)
