This is a typical award - not every award will look exactly the same. Outside Scholarships Outside scholarships can be applied to the student loan (if any), summer work, or work-study contributions. Scholarships that exceed the loan and work expectations (or the expected federal contribution) will be used to reduce the Wellesley grant dollar for dollar. Health Insurance Wellesley requires all students to have health insurance, either through a parent or another plan. For students not covered by a parental plan, the Wellesley grant will be increased to pay for the Wellesley College student health plan in many cases. Other Details Students cover their own personal expenses, books, and travel expenses from summer work and/or academic year work. The expected student contribution increases from year to year. Amounts for 2010-2011 are as follows:
Second year: $2,100 (work-study), $1,900 (summer work) Third year: $2,300 (work-study)*, $1,950 (summer work) Fourth year: $2,300 (work-study), $1,950 (summer work)) *Students who study abroad junior year may take out a loan because they cannot participate in work-study while abroad.
