Outside Scholarships
Outside scholarships can be applied to the student loan, summer work, or work-study contributions. Scholarships that exceed the loan and work expectations (or the expected federal contribution) will be used to reduce the Wellesley grant dollar for dollar.

Health Insurance
Wellesley requires all students to have health insurance, either through a parent or another plan. For students not covered by a parental plan, the Wellesley grant will be increased to pay for the Wellesley College student health plan.

Other Details
Students cover their own personal expenses, books, and travel expenses from summer work and/or academic year work.

The expected student contribution increases from year to year. Amounts for 2007-2008 are as follows:
First year: $2,100 (work-study), $1,250 (summer work), $1,600 (student loan)
Second year: $2,100 (work-study), $1,900 (summer work), $2,000 (student loan)
Third year: $2,300 (work-study), $1,950 (summer work), $2,500* (student loan)
Fourth year: $2,300 (work-study), $1,950 (summer work), $2,500 (student loan)

*The student loan will be higher in the junior year for students who study abroad because they cannot participate in work-study while abroad.
