Outside Scholarships
Outside scholarships may be used to reduce a student's work-study and summer work contributions. Scholarships that exceed the earnings requirement will be used reduce the Williams grant.

Health Insurance
Williams requires all students to have health insurance, either through their parents or another plan. If student is not covered by a parental plan, the Williams grant will be increased to cover the the cost of student insurance.

Other Details
Students are expected to contribute 25% of their personal savings toward college expenses. This will be used to reduce the Williams grant dollar for dollar. A travel allowance will be determined by Williams based on student location. The actual travel allowance may be different than the average amount listed here, affecting the amount of the Williams grant.

Requirements associated with maintaining this award:
  • All Williams students are expected to maintain at least a C- average.

    Tyng Scholarship Summer expectations
    Tyng Scholars are highly encouraged to pursue special internship, research or study opportunities for all three of their undergraduate summers (commencing after freshman year) funded with Tyng Scholarship support. A stipend of $3,200 is available for one summer, and full scholarship replacement of the Tyng summer earning expectation of $1,300 for the other two summers.
