National College Match Application Requirements
for College Match Finalists

 

If you have ranked Columbia University as one of your choices for the QuestBridge National College Match, the following Application and Financial Aid materials must be submitted to the college as soon as you are notified of your finalist status on October 22. Due to the amount of supplementary application materials required for Columbia, it is highly recommended that you begin this process in early October.

If there are any additional questions please refer to the FAQ for QuestBridge Students Applying to Columbia.

  • The deadline to submit these requirements is November 1, 2012.
  • If you do not submit the required materials by November 1, 2012, Columbia may choose not to consider your application for the College Match.
  • If you are not selected as a National College Match Finalist, please review the college-specific requirements for QuestBridge students who wish to apply through the Regular Decision process.

 

Required Application Materials

The Common Application with the Columbia University Supplement and all supporting documentation (including official transcripts, secondary school report, and recommendations)
The Common Application online
Select the "Regular Decision" option on the application (not "Early Decision").
Please check the Fee Waiver box on the Common Application. The application fee is automatically waived for QuestBridge finalists; you do not need to mail in an official fee waiver form. Non-finalists who wish to apply through the early or regular decision processes will be asked to pay the fee or submit a fee waiver request at a later date. Please refer to the Common Application for further instructions.

Official test scores
Request official score reports from the College Board and/or ACT as soon as you are notified of your QuestBridge finalist status on October 22. You should not use the "rush reporting" service.

A copy of your parents' 2011 federal income tax returns (signed, with all schedules, attachments, W-2s, and other earnings statements). Include personal and corporate/partnership tax returns. Submit directly to Columbia using this cover sheet. Fax (preferred) or mail to:

If your parents are separated, divorced, or never married:

a. Your noncustodial parent must submit the online Noncustodial PROFILE using the login ID and password that will be emailed to you when you complete the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE.

b. Your noncustodial parent must also submit copies of their 2011 federal tax returns with all schedules, attachments, W-2s, and other earnings statements. Submit directly to Columbia using this cover sheet.

c. If you do not have any contact with your noncustodial parents, then you may submit a request to waive the requirement of their financial information. Your request must include a statement from a third party who can verify your situation. The Noncustodial Waiver Petition is available online at http://www.questbridge.org/images/ncp_wiaver.pdf.

Regular Decision Application Requirements

You may apply to Columbia via Regular Decision by completing the steps below.

  • Request Regular Decision application forwarding on your "Application Management" page between December 1st and December 14th.
  • Submit all required additional materials depending on your status below.
  • All additional materials are due by the Columbia Regular Decision deadline, and you will be notified on the admissions decision according to their normal deadlines.

    Columbia's Testing Requirements

    Each of our partner colleges has different requirements for standardized tests that students must take in order to be considered for admission. Please review the testing requirements for Columbia below. Refer to the National College Match Requirements (above) for instructions regarding submission of test scores to the colleges.

    Must take one of the following combinations:

    • SAT Reasoning Test and 2 SAT Subject Tests; or
    • ACT with Writing
