Outside Scholarships
Outside scholarships may be used to reduce a student's work-study contribution. If total scholarships exceed $2,600, students may ask the donor organization(s) for a deferment to subsequent academic years. Outside scholarships in excess of $2,600 that are not deferred will be used to reduce or eliminate scholarships from Notre Dame.
Health Insurance
Notre Dame requires all students to have health insurance, either through their parents or another plan. If the student is not covered by a parental plan, the Notre Dame grant will be increased to cover the student health plan (estimated cost is $1,665).
Other Details
The student may choose to replace the work-study contribution with a loan.
The cost of travel will vary depending on student location; the summer work contribution is intended to cover this expense. Personal expenses will be subsidized by work-study income.
Book costs will vary depending on classes, and the Notre Dame Scholarship will be adjusted dollar for dollar to reflect the variance if the student submits copies of their receipts.
Requirements associated with maintaining this award:
- Remaining in good standing at the University
- Standard annual progress toward on-time graduation
The scholarship does not cover the cost of a laundry contract, music lessons, or summer school.
The scholarship is offered for a maximum of eight semesters.
