Penn's Regular Decision Requirements

You may apply to any of QuestBridge's partner colleges via Regular Decision. Admission to Penn through Regular Decision is not binding. Penn's strong financial aid program is "need-blind," "need-based" and "grants-based," meaning that they will not consider a family's income when making admissions decisions, and, once a student is admitted, Penn will meet his or her family's financial need. Further, Penn will not include loans as a part of students' financial aid awards. All dependent undergraduate students eligible for financial aid will receieve loan-free packages, regardless of family income.

You must complete two steps in order to apply to Penn in Regular Decision via QuestBridge:

All additional materials are due by the January 1 Regular Decision deadline, and you will be notified of the admissions decision in late March.

Penn's Testing Requirements

Penn requires one of the testing combinations below. No preference is given to either combintation; however, Penn requires that applicants submit all testing results from each administration of the ACT, SAT, and SAT Subject Tests.

  • SAT Reasoning Test and 2 SAT Subject Tests; or
  • ACT with Writing

If you're planning to take the SAT...

  • Freshman applicants choosing the SAT must take the SAT Reasoning Test and two SAT Subject Tests.
  • Candidates to the School of Engineering and Applied Science or the Wharton School taking the SAT are encouraged to take a Mathematics Subject Test.
  • Students interested in science-related fields who are taking the SAT, and especially applicants to the School of Engineering and Applied Science and the School of Nursing, are encouraged to take a science Subject Test.
  • Registration materials for the SAT Reasoning Test and SAT Subject Tests may be obtained from your guidance office.

If you're planning to take the ACT...

The American College Test with Writing may be used in lieu of the SAT Reasoning Test and two SAT Subject Tests. No preference is given to either test.
