Outside scholarships up to $1,150 can be used to reduce the work-study earnings contribution. These funds can also be used for personal expenses, including travel. Additional scholarships will be used to reduce the Pomona grant, dollar for dollar.

Health Insurance
Pomona requires all students to have health insurance, either through a parent or another plan. If student is not covered by a parental plan, the Pomona grant will be increased to cover half the cost of the Pomona student health plan. Students may request a loan or use outside scholarship aid to cover the second half. Cost for 2011-12: $1,398.

Other Details
If needed, Pomona will assist students with travel expenses to and from the college in their first year (2 roundtrip tickets). The amount allocated for assistance is based on home of residence and the college's budgeted expense for travel. Additional travel expenses in future years will be met with loan assistance.
