Outside Scholarships

Outside scholarships will be used to reduce the Rice grant, dollar for dollar.

Health Insurance
Rice requires all students to have health insurance either through their parents or another plan. A student plan is available for $1,543, if the student is not covered by parental insurance. This cost is the student's responsibility. If purchasing the Rice health insurance plan, outside scholarships may be applied toward the cost.

Other Details
A fixed $400 is credited to the student each term for books.

Requirements associated with maintaining this award:

  • Minimum 2.8 GPA.
  • Upholding of Rice University Honor System.

*Other fees include the following: $651 standard student fees and $220 Orientation Week fee plus $285 room and board fee during Orientation Week.
