Financial Aid

University of Southern California's College Match Scholarship Package Details

At the University of Southern California, you must apply for financial aid for each academic year you plan to enroll.

USC expects students and their parents to contribute toward educational costs to the extent that they are able. The USC financial aid program will make up the difference when families are not financially able to cover the costs. USC individually evaluates each application on several factors including family total income, family size, and the number of siblings in college. USC will also review any documented special circumstances, such as high medical expenses.

As USC seeks the most academically promising students, inclusive of families with significant financial disadvantage, we anticipate that many QuestBridge applicants will qualify for an Expected Parent Contribution (EPC) of zero and that this will remain so throughout a student's four years of College study.

The scholarship described below will be automatically renewed for four years of study for College Match Scholars, but students will still need to submit applications for Federal Financial Aid each year.

Scholarship Details
These numbers are based on costs for the 2011-2012 school year. Amounts will change slightly from year to year, but as the cost of college increases, the scholarship packages will correspondingly increase.

Outside Scholarships
USC allows outside scholarships for QuestBridge Scholars to replace the student contribution, rather than scholarship, in a financial aid award. Outside scholarships in excess of the student contribution will reduce the USC QuestBridge scholarship aid that would otherwise be provided.

Health Insurance
USC requires all students to have health insurance, either through a parent or another plan. If student is not covered by a parental plan, the USC scholarship will be increased to pay for the student health plan.

Other Details
Students may replace the student income/summer savings expectation with loans. Students will also be required to submit a FAFSA by February 2, 2012 to determine their eligibility for federal aid. California Residents will be required to apply for a Cal Grant by March 2, 2012. Students will also be required to submit required tax documents by March 2, 2012. Federal and State aid will replace the USC QuestBridge Scholarship.
