About Us

Q: Why should a low-income student apply to QuestBridge?

A: "To me, it's a no-brainer. The application itself helps to level what is a very uneven playing field. The application offers the opportunity for them to explain to us any situations that might not come out in a conventional application. It can help us to better understand compelling circumstances."

Instructions

  1. Review the Selection Criteria for the National College Match.

  2. Research QuestBridge's partner colleges and look over the test requirements and National College Match application requirements for all colleges that you plan to apply to.

  3. Sign up for a QuestBridge account.

  4. Complete the following steps as soon as possible:

    • Open your QuestBridge application and review the questions, especially the essay questions, so that you can begin to think about your responses.

    • Register your recommenders on the QuestBridge application, and give your teachers and counselor the recommendation instructions as early as possible, preferably during the first week of school.

      • Open your QuestBridge application and enter information for the two teachers who will write your teacher recommendations and the counselor who will write your Secondary School Report.

      • Print out the "Recommender Instructions" forms and give them to your teachers and counselor. The instruction forms will appear on your "My Locker" page after you have entered your recommenders' information. Your teachers and counselor should fill out their online recommendations following the directions provided in the instruction forms.

    • Ask your high school to submit an official copy of your academic transcript and standardized test scores via fax to QuestBridge using the designated fax cover sheet provided on your "My Locker" page.

      • If your counseling office does not have standardized test score reports on file, please provide them to your counselor. Either an official test score report or a printout from the testing agency's website will suffice.

    • Assemble necessary documentation (below) that you will need to complete the application:

      • Transcripts (an unofficial transcript is sufficient to use in entering your courses and grades into the application)

      • Test score reports

      • Your parents' most recent tax returns

  5. Fill out the online QuestBridge student application.

  6. Submit the QuestBridge application by September 30, 2010 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. All of the following elements should be submitted by this deadline:

    • Student application

    • Two teacher recommendations

    • Secondary School Report (counselor recommendation)

    • Transcript and test score reports

    • School Profile (optional, but recommended)

  7. Rank the colleges to which you want to apply for admission and the College Match scholarship. It is important to note that you should only rank the colleges that you are certain you would want to attend if awarded admission and a full scholarship. You may rank as few as zero colleges or as many as eight of QuestBridge's 29 partner colleges.

  8. Submit your college rankings and Match Agreement Form by October 12, 2010 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.
