At the age of nine, Yassmin Parsaei's family immigrated from Tehran, Iran to the small suburbs of Savannah. Since their arrival, Yassmin has always striven for the best in everything she has done. Her parents, and especially her sister, continue to serve as her greatest source of inspiration, support, and encouragement. Besides keeping up with her academics, Yassmin currently works alongside her parents at her family's Middle Eastern restaurant and is both a volunteer and the head of her school's American Red Cross volunteer group. At school she participates in various different activities and is a member of the National Honor Society and Cum Laude Society. From navigating the boat as a coxswain on her crew team to dancing on stage with other members in her school’s modern dance class, she has truly made the most of her high school experience. Furthermore, Yassmin's growing interest in the Spanish language has inspired her to break the language barriers that exist today in medicine, and she is more than grateful to QuestBridge for providing her the opportunity to begin her medical studies at Yale University.
