Policy Regarding Outside Scholarships
Outside scholarships may be used to reduce a student's work-study contribution and/or their summer work contribution. Scholarships in excess of $3,450 (for the first year) will reduce the Vassar Scholarship.
Policy on Health Insurance
Vassar requires all students to have health insurance, either through their parents or another plan. If student is not covered by a parental plan, the Vassar grant will be increased to cover the $1,415 student insurance plan.
Policy on Travel Allowance
While a travel allowance is included in the Student Budget and the total amount of financial aid offered, these expenses are the responsibility of the family and paid for from the student contribution and/or student employment earnings. The average allowance is $540 while the range is $120 - $1,250 depending on the distance.
