Outside scholarships
Outside Scholarships may be used to reduce a student's work-study expectation. Scholarships that exceed the work-study expectation will be used to reduce the Wesleyan grant.

Health Insurance
Wesleyan requires all students to have health insurance either through their parents or another plan. If the student is not covered by a parental plan Wesleyan makes a health plan available the cost of which can be covered by a low-interest rate loan.

Other details
Students may choose to replace their work-study eligibility with a loan.

The travel allowance will be determined by the student's home address. The Wesleyan grant will be increased by the amount of the travel allowance. By including the cost of travel in the cost of attendance and then covering it with grant, more of the student account balance is covered by the financial aid award, freeing up the student's own resources to fund travel costs.

Students use campus and summer job earnings to pay for books and supplies, travel, and personal expenses.

Students are expected to contribute 25% of their personal savings towards the cost of attendance.

Student Summer Work Contribution and Work-Study expectation will increase for the student's upper-class years.
