Rice University, set in the heart of the nation’s fourth-largest city, Houston, Texas, is a place that is passionate about teaching, undergraduate research, and leadership development. At Rice, students choose from over 50 undergraduate programs of study across six schools of study – Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Music and Architecture.
The residential college system lies at the core of the Rice undergraduate experience. It is an Oxford-inspired residential college system where students live and study in the same buildings. Students are assigned to one of eleven residential units, also known as colleges. More than just a residence hall, each college functions as a self-supporting community where you eat, dine, study, and socialize.
Interesting tidbits about Rice: first, there is a Rice flag on the moon. Second, every undergraduate student at Rice is given a Passport to Houston, which provides free, unlimited use of the public transportation system and access to many entertainment and cultural venues in Houston.
