Options following the Match

Restrictive
Early Action

Finalists who do not match cannot be considered for admission through Restrictive Early Action to Stanford, but instead will be automatically considered in the Regular Decision process.

Finalists who do not participate in the Match may apply to Stanford under Restrictive Early Action. In order to be eligible, you must:

  • Complete either the Common Application or Coalition Application in its entirety by November 1. You may select the “I am a QuestBridge Finalist” in order to have your application fee waived.
  • Email credentials@stanford.edu with the message “I would like to remove my QuestBridge National College Match consideration from the Stanford University process. Instead, I am opting to complete the Common or Coalition Application for consideration under Restrictive Early Action. I have reviewed the policies set forth at https://admission.stanford.edu/apply/decision_process/index.html. I will neither rank any colleges for the Match, nor submit any Early Action or Early Decision application to any other college or university that would violate Stanford’s Restrictive Early Action policy.”

Regular Decision

All Finalists who rank Stanford for the Match, but do not match to a binding college will automatically have their applications moved to Regular Decision. You may access the QuestBridge Optional Update Form via your Application Status Page in order to inform us of any academic or life changes you find important to your application status.

All Finalists who rank Stanford University in the Match but match to a binding institution, must complete the Stanford University Application Withdrawal Form, available on the Application Status page.

A midyear transcript is required for Regular Decision. Please ask your counselor to send the document as an email attachment to credentials@stanford.edu.

If you no longer wish to be considered for admission to Stanford University, you must contact the Undergraduate Admission Office at credentials@stanford.edu to withdraw your application. Be sure to include your full legal name, school name, date of birth, and application ID.

Regular Decision Requirements:
