Quest Internships

Working under close direction of a QuestBridge staff member, interns will carry out projects that support the goals of the organization and enable the student to learn and grow. Quest Interns may have the unique opportunity to help staff prepare and host events, such as the annual QuestBridge National College Admissions Conferences. At the end of the summer, ​interns culminate their experience with a presentation that highlights their accomplishments and impact.

QSN LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT INTERN

The QuestBridge Scholars Network (QSN) Leadership Development Intern will be an active member of the QSN Team, which develops and implements a variety of support and programming for the QuestBridge Scholars Network. “QSN Leadership” refers to the group of QSN Chapter Presidents on our college partner campuses.

The intern’s primary responsibility will be to assist in preparing QSN Leaders for success during the 2020-2021 academic year. They will communicate and support incoming QSN Leaders and create historical documentation of each chapter's efforts. A central project of the internship will be to assist with preparation and execution of the QSN Leadership Conference, tentatively scheduled for a weekend in early August. 

Duties will include:

  • Evaluate QSN Leadership feedback and check-in reports
  • Create summary documents, propose program changes, and draft guidance documents based on report evaluations
  • Organize assignments and track QSN Leaders' summer responsibilities
  • Manage professional communication with QSN Leaders
  • Coordinate logistics and collect information in preparation for the QSN Leadership Conference
  • Participate in event-planning meetings, and potentially support coordination of vendors, supplies, and other preparations for the event
  • Attend and support staff with set-up, facilitation, and trouble-shooting during the QSN Leadership Conference
  • Aid in building workshop content and potentially present at the QSN Leadership Conference
  • Other tasks as needed

  • Strong sense of professionalism in both the office and in the context of working with college and/or high school students

  • Ability to be detail-oriented while maintaining a big picture point of view

Required qualifications:

  • Passion and motivation to strengthen the QuestBridge Scholar community
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, with an ability to manage multiple tasks and long-term projects
  • Proactive and able to learn quickly (e.g. new software, web applications, or web content management)
  • Experience or strong interest in creating workshop content and presenting in front of large groups
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Google Office Suite (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, etc.) preferred

Preferred qualification:

  • Previous experience in QSN Chapter leadership position.

HOURS & LOCATION OF WORK

The is a full-time position located at Quest HQ in Palo Alto, California, near the California Avenue Caltrain station. 

All Quest Internships last 10-12 weeks over the summer. Specific dates are flexible and will be determined based on the intern’s availability and QSN's program needs. Travel stipends are not provided as part of Quest Internships.

Interns may have the opportunity to assist in the preparation and staffing of one or more QuestBridge conferences that take place across the country. More information will be shared during the interview process. (Please note: QuestBridge will provide travel, lodging, and food for work-related events requiring travel outside of the San Francisco Bay Area).

COMPENSATION

Interns will receive $16.00 per hour and a housing stipend will be provided upon completion of the internship.

Applicants will be notified in early February if selected for an interview. Interviews will be conducted via phone or video conference. Final candidates will be selected based on their understanding of the QuestBridge organization, motivation to support our mission, and the specific qualifications listed in the job description.
