Policy on Outside Funding
Middlebury allows outside aid to replace the student's self-help contribution, which includes the $2,900 work-study expectation. Anything above that amount will replace the Middlebury grant.
Policy on Health Insurance
Middlebury purchases health insurance for their highest need students. Qualifying students have an Institutional Methodology Expected Family Contribution at or below $2,500.
Policy on Travel Allowance
Middlebury's travel allowance will vary depending on a student's state of origin. The travel allowance ranges from $200 to $1,000 per year.
Policy on Student Contribution
Middlebury expects students to earn or save $2,400 from summer earnings. Exceptions are made for students attending Middlebury summer programs or participating in unpaid internships. There is also an expected Work-Study contribution of $2,900, which can be put towards personal expenses, such as travel or books and supplies.

In order to keep need-based financial assistance at Middlebury, students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Other Details
Middlebury requires that all insitutional, federal, state and local aid abide by federal methodology and stay within the student's demonstrated need. A student's aid must not exceed the budgeted Cost of Attendance.
