Common Application or Coalition Application and all supporting documents

Submitting the Northwestern Writing Supplement is highly encouraged. There is no preference over which of the two applications is submitted, but only submit one, not both.

Submit along with official transcripts, Secondary School Report, and one teacher recommendation (additional teacher recommendations are allowed but not required).

You are encouraged to reuse your QuestBridge essays. You are also encouraged to ask the same teacher to submit the same recommendation for the Common Application or Coalition Application.

Select the "Regular Decision" option on the Common Application or Coalition Application (not "Early Decision").

On the Northwestern Questions section of the Common Application or Coalition Application, under school-specific fee waivers, select "Yes, affiliation with a community based organization".

Official transcripts can be submitted via the Common App or Coalition App online, or mailed to the Admissions Office (see Contact Information below).

Test Scores
SAT code: 1565
ACT code: 1106

Northwestern requires the SAT or the ACT (Writing not required).

You may self-report SAT and/or ACT scores on your application, taking care to report your highest individual sections of the SAT and/or highest ACT composite score. You are not obligated to report scores from all test dates, though you are welcome to do so. Admitted students who choose to enroll will be required to submit official SAT or ACT test scores prior to matriculation, either through your high school (on an official transcript or directly from a school administrator), or through the College Board and/or ACT.

SAT Subject Tests are optional for most undergraduate applicants. Learn more.

For students whose first language is not English and whose schooling has not been primarily in English: English proficiency scores (TOEFL or IELTS) may not be self-reported; these should be submitted officially via the testing company at the applicant stage.
