Quest for Excellence: NYC Award

The Quest for Excellence New York City Award gives high-achieving, low-income high school juniors in New York City access to summer enrichment and travel programs, technology, professional networking, and academic opportunities, to help strengthen their college outlook. This initiative is made possible through the generosity of the Heckscher Foundation for Children, additional foundations, and individuals.

College Prep Scholars selected for the New York City Award will receive:

  • An invitation to one of our National College Admissions Conferences where you will attend workshops led by college admissions officers and QuestBridge staff.

  • Funding for various college application related fees including standardized testing, score reports, and financial aid

  • One-on-one essay support during the fall college application cycle

  • College visit trips with other New York City Awardees

  • A supportive cohort of students to work with throughout your college application process

  • A dedicated QuestBridge staff member to answer your questions

Who should apply

To apply, you should qualify for the College Prep Scholars Program and must permanently reside in one of the five boroughs of New York City.

How to apply

  1. Complete a College Prep Scholars Program application.
  2. In the “Personal” section, list your permanent address as being in NYC.
  3. In the “Awards” page of the application, respond to the Quest for Excellence NYC Award prompt.
