Barnard College, Boston University, and Denison University Join QuestBridge

Palo Alto, California (January 26, 2021) – QuestBridge is proud to announce the newest colleges to join the partnership: Barnard College, Boston University, and Denison University. The addition of these colleges brings the total number of QuestBridge college partners to 45. All QuestBridge college partners are top liberal arts colleges and research universities dedicated to increasing the presence of high achieving students from low-income backgrounds on their campuses and to making their institutions accessible and affordable to talented students from all backgrounds. They also share a commitment to helping students thrive and succeed in college and beyond.

“Our new partnerships with Barnard College, Boston University, and Denison University further expand the wide-ranging college options for our applicants,” says Ana McCullough, QuestBridge Co-Founder and CEO. “They are three exceptional institutions that offer unique academic and life opportunities to our QuestBridge Scholars. We know our students will benefit from access to a top-notch education at each of these schools, and we are honored to welcome them to the QuestBridge family.”

Founded in 1889, Barnard College, located in New York City, is a women’s college dedicated to interdisciplinary learning and exploration. Barnard students not only benefit from being a part of a diverse city, but they also take advantage of Barnard’s partnership with Columbia University, which gives students access to academic and research opportunities, co-curricular options, and the greater Columbia community, including access to the QuestBridge Scholars Network (QSN) Chapter. "Barnard is proud to partner with QuestBridge to target and reach thousands of high-achieving, low-income students. As we further our commitment to being a more diverse and inclusive institution, we look forward to working with QuestBridge to open up a Barnard education to those who may have considered it inaccessible before,” says Christina Lopez, Dean of Admissions at Barnard College. Vice President for Enrollment and Communications at Barnard College, Jennifer Fondiller, adds, “This new partnership with QuestBridge aligns well with Access Barnard, a key institutional initiative that aims to improve the academic and student experience for our first-generation, low-income population. Joining QuestBridge is another step toward ensuring that we can identify, enroll, and support the most talented scholars from all backgrounds.”

Boston University, located in the heart of Boston, provides access to a vibrant, urban campus where students can immerse themselves in a multifaceted college experience that prepares them for fulfilling lives personally and professionally. Students at Boston University continuously strive for and create ways to make an impact on society. “I am both excited and proud that QuestBridge has selected Boston University as one of their new institutional partners. Our partnership with QuestBridge will allow BU to expand our commitment to helping underserved and underrepresented students access a high-quality education, imagine a future full of opportunity, and achieve both their academic and personal goals,” says Kelly Walter, Associate Vice President for Enrollment and Dean of Admissions at Boston University. “I am confident that by bringing together a group of accomplished students who are united by a common interest in learning and with varied life experiences, interests, and talents, they will contribute to the dynamic educational environment of the University. My colleagues and I look forward to welcoming the first class of QuestBridge Scholars to campus in the fall of 2022.”

At Denison University, a liberal arts college located in Granville, Ohio, students are inspired and educated to become thought-leaders and active citizens of society through academic and career experiences that prepare them for an interconnected global environment. Denison fosters an environment that is grounded in community, allowing students from all backgrounds to thrive intellectually and personally. “We are proud to partner with QuestBridge to build on Denison's long history of mentoring outstanding students from low-income backgrounds inside and outside of the classroom,” says Gregory Sneed, Vice President of Enrollment Management at Denison University. “QuestBridge has supported thousands of talented students in their college search, and Denison is pleased to support these students in their pursuit of a life-changing college education.”

Barnard, BU, and Denison will participate in events in summer 2021 geared toward helping high school juniors selected as QuestBridge College Prep Scholars prepare for selective college admissions. In fall 2021, these three college partners will participate in the QuestBridge National College Match, a college and scholarship application process that connects students from low-income backgrounds with admission and full four-year scholarships to QuestBridge college partners. The first QuestBridge Scholars at these new partners will matriculate in fall 2022.
