If you are a Finalist who ranked Brown University, your National College Match application will be sent to Brown University, and you will need to submit the following requirements to the school by November 1. If you have questions after reviewing the information below, please reach out to the school directly.
Requirements
Brown University Application Status Portal Activation
QuestBridge will send Finalists’ applications to college partners on October 21, and Brown University may need a couple of days to import them into their system. Once processed, Brown University will then email you instructions to log in and activate your applicant portal, where you can track the status of the materials you submit.
Once your QuestBridge Application is forwarded to Brown, Brown will email you with instructions to activate your Brown Portal. When you activate your portal, you will be asked to complete the Brown Questionnaire and respond to the Brown-specific short answer questions by November 1.
An official transcript of your complete high school academic record must be sent to the Office of College Admission directly from each secondary school you have attended. Transcripts submitted by your school(s) through online services, such as Docufide, Naviance and the QuestBridge Application are accepted. If you are unable to submit through one of these online services, please arrange to have your materials sent by your counselor or school official by email to [email protected] or by fax to (401) 863-9300.
Brown University requires standardized test scores (either SAT or ACT) for first-year applicants. We will superscore either the SAT or ACT, or both. Please note that the SAT Essay, ACT Writing, and ACT Science Reasoning components remain completely optional.
There are no minimum scores required to be considered for admission, but as we seek to set students up for success, the availability of test scores – evaluated in context – is one more resource we can use to support academic preparation and to create a diverse and dynamic class. This provides greater clarity and consistency in Brown’s admission process and will allow data, excellence and equity to drive our decision-making.

Please select "Regular Decision" as your admission application type.
All applicants are required to complete the CSS Profile. After submitting the CSS Profile, a student may receive a request from the College Board to upload additional information to the College Board Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC). If you do not receive a request, the Office of Financial Aid has enough information to provide an estimated financial aid award at the time of admission. A request for additional information should not be interpreted as an indication of a pending Match.
After filing the CSS Profile, a student may receive an email communication from the College Board providing instructions on how to submit documents through IDOC, if they are deemed necessary. IDOC requirements may include:

2025 federal income tax return (or non-tax filer statement) for student
2025 federal income tax return (or non-tax filer statement) for noncustodial parent, if applicable
2025 federal income tax return for partnerships and/or corporations, if applicable

Submit as soon as available
The FAFSA will open this fall. Please complete the FAFSA as soon as it is available and submit it directly to Brown.
US Citizens and Eligible Noncitizens are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Although the FAFSA determines federal aid eligibility, it is also necessary, along with all other application materials, before Brown University Scholarship can be offered.
Finalists who ranked Brown and did not match may apply Early Decision to Brown. You will receive further instructions and the Early Decision form by email after matches are announced. The Early Decision form must be completed by Friday, December 6.
All Finalists who rank Brown for the Match, but did not match to a binding college will automatically have their applications moved into the Regular Decision process. Please submit ONLY your Midyear Report and any relevant updates.
If you no longer wish to be considered, please contact the Admissions Office to withdraw your application (see Contact Information below).
Regular Decision Requirements:
Step 1: Select Brown University on the QuestBridge Regular Decision Form on your Application Management page between November 4 - December 11. Only check the box if you fully intend to submit a complete application to Brown University (including all of the materials detailed in the table below).
Step 2: Activate your Brown University Applicant Portal. QuestBridge will send Finalists’ applications to Brown University on December 16 and Brown University may need a couple days to import them into their system. Use the Brown University applicant portal, sent to you via email, to track the status of your materials you submit to Brown University.
Step 3: Submit all additional required application and financial materials by the applicable deadlines directly to Brown University as detailed in the table below.

Common Application with Brown Writing Supplement, and all supporting documents
If you choose you may reuse one of your QuestBridge essays for the Common Application essay.
Choose the "QuestBridge" option under fee waiver when you complete the Common Application.
