Outside funding up to $3,700 reduces the work study award and student summer work contribution. Any outside funding in excess of $3,700 will reduce the Tufts Grant by a corresponding amount.
Tufts requires all students to have health insurance. Students can waive the Tufts Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) if covered by a family member or another health insurance plan. For Match students not covered by another plan, Tufts will cover the cost of the Tufts medical insurance with a Tufts grant.
Based on distance from campus, Tufts will add a travel allowance to the estimated total cost of attendance, actual travel expenses may vary. Money for travel cannot be advanced prior to the start of the semester so students are responsible for covering their own travel expenses using a combination of the summer work contribution, savings and/or work study funds. Students are also able to take loan funds to assist with travel expenses.
Students may choose to replace their work study and student summer work contribution with a loan.
Students use campus and summer job earnings to pay for books and supplies, travel, and personal expenses.
The student summer work contribution and work study expectation will increase each year.
All students must complete the CSS Profile annually. All eligible U.S. students must also complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) annually.
The Office of Financial Aid reviews your application(s) and documentation annually to confirm your expected family contribution, demonstrated need and eligibility for financial aid. The exact amount of a student’s grants will vary based upon a student’s federal and state aid.
All Tufts aid recipients must maintain satisfactory academic progress. Students are eligible for 8 semesters of institutional financial aid while students enrolled in the 5-Year Combined Degree BFA + BA/BS are eligible for 10 semesters of aid.
