Introduction to Vanderbilt Business
Situated in the lively and growing city of Nashville, Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management prepares students for leadership positions across a wide range of industries. Each student has the opportunity to be paired with a professional executive coach for individualized guidance through their acclaimed Leadership Development Program. Combined with the intimate class size and collaborative community, the personal support each student receives is an integral part of the Vanderbilt Business experience.
The curriculum at Vanderbilt Business is built on a modular system, with each course comprising seven weeks plus an exam week. Each semester is made up of two “mods,” allowing students the chance to explore a large number of classes before their summer internship and over the course of their degree. Each student selects one area of concentration and can further customize their study with additional concentrations, specializations, or emphases, in addition to a wide variety of elective courses.
Vanderbilt Business is home to a diverse array of student clubs and organizations, from Vanderbilt Business Healthcare Association to the Center for Social Ventures to Owen Women’s Business Association. Closing Bell is a popular social tradition hosted every Thursday by one of the student organizations, providing a celebratory space for the cohort to share a meal, build community, and have fun at the end of the week.
Students at Vanderbilt Business have access to exceptional opportunities to grow their careers. Personalized career coaching supports students toward employment at top companies in industries as broad as consulting, financial services, healthcare, technology, and beyond. The variety of experiential learning opportunities, such as career treks and immersions, student-managed investment funds, and entrepreneurship support allows students to gain crucial experience and build their networks as they advance in their careers.
