Finalists who rank University of Richmond

If you are a Finalist who ranked University of Richmond, your National College Match application will be sent to University of Richmond, and you will need to submit the following requirements to the school by November 1. If you have questions after reviewing the information below, please reach out to the school directly.

Requirements

University of Richmond Application Status Portal Activation

QuestBridge will send Finalists’ applications to college partners on October 21, and University of Richmond may need a couple of days to import them into their system. Once processed, University of Richmond will then email you instructions to log in and activate your applicant portal, where you can track the status of the materials you submit.

Richmond QuestBridge Supplement

After receiving your QuestBridge application, you will receive information on how to access your Spider Portal. Through your Spider Portal you will be able to access the Richmond QuestBridge Supplement which includes academic interest questions, and our Richmond Essay prompts.

Official Transcript(s)

School counselors should mail or email a copy of your official transcript(s) to the Office of Admission (see Contact Information below). If official transcripts were submitted for the Match, these do not need to be resubmitted for consideration.

You will also need to provide senior progress grades. Depending on your school’s academic calendar, senior progress grades are either first quarter, trimester, or semester grades from your senior year. These grades may not become available to you until after you submit your application and they should be submitted as soon as they become available.  You may self-report these through the Spider Portal or request that they be sent by your school counselor.

University of Richmond provides an option for students to apply without consideration of test scores in 2026. More information about test optional can be found on the testing requirements site

If you do not want to have standardized test results included in the review of your application, please indicate so when prompted on the Richmond QuestBridge Supplement. The University of Richmond superscores the SAT and ACT for students who submit test scores.
Students whose first language is not English are required to submit proof of English proficiency. Richmond accepts official score reports from the following English proficiency tests: IELTS, TOEFL, and Duolingo English Test. The English proficiency requirement is waived if you have been enrolled in an school in which the language of instruction is English for at least 4 years, or by obtaining an A or B equivalent grade in AP, IB, or A-level English courses.
 

2026-2027 CSS Profile

Please select “Early Decision” as your admission application type.

If your parents are divorced or separated, both parents must complete a CSS Profile application. In this case, the non-custodial parent will create a separate Profile account to maintain privacy. See the CSS Profile's Information for Parents page for more information. 

2024 Federal Tax Returns and Forms

Within 1 to 2 days of submitting your CSS Profile, you will receive an email with instructions for submitting tax information via IDOC, the College Board's Institutional Documentation Service. You should submit a signed copy of parent and student 2024 federal tax returns, including all schedules and W-2 forms. If you or your parents did not file a tax return, you should submit a Non-Tax Filer Statement for each non-tax filer in IDOC. 

2026-2027 FAFSA

FAFSA code: 003744

The FAFSA is required for U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and eligible non-citizens; international students do not complete the FAFSA. 

If your parents are divorced or separated, the FAFSA should be completed by the parent who provides more financial support, even if you do not live with them. 

Early Decision

Finalists who rank Richmond but do not match but have completed all application requirements for Richmond will automatically receive a desicion during the Early Action decision release at the end of January. Finalists moved to Early Action will also be automatically considered for the Richmond Scholars Program, and Presidential Scholarships. You may also request to be considered for Early Decision II. Those wanting to pursue Early Decision at Richmond may submit a decision plan change request form via the Spider Portal or email [email protected]. An Early Decision Agreement will also be required and will be available in the Spider Portal once the decision plan update is made. Requests to change to Early Decision II must be made by January 15.

Regular Decision

All finalists who rank Richmond for the Match, but did not complete the Richmond QuestBridge supplement can still apply Regular Decision by completing all application requirements by February 15.  Please do not submit an application via Common Application or Coalition Application if you have already sent your QuestBridge application to Richmond. Finalists moved to Regular Decision will also be automatically considered for the Richmond Scholars Program, and Presidential Scholarships.

If you are no longer interested in Richmond, please submit the application withdrawal form via the Spider Portal or email [email protected] to have your application withdrawn. 

Regular Decision Requirements:

Step 1: Select University of Richmond on the QuestBridge Regular Decision Form on your Application Management page between November 4 - December 11. Only check the box if you fully intend to submit a complete application to University of Richmond (including all of the materials detailed in the table below).

Step 2: Activate your University of Richmond Applicant Portal. QuestBridge will send Finalists’ applications to University of Richmond on December 16 and University of Richmond may need a couple days to import them into their system. Use the University of Richmond applicant portal, sent to you via email, to track the status of your materials you submit to University of Richmond.

Step 3: Submit all additional required application and financial materials by the applicable deadlines directly to University of Richmond as detailed in the table below.
