If you are interested in applying to MIT through the Match, you should complete the QuestBridge application. If you are selected as a finalist and ranked MIT, they will contact you via email about accessing the MIT QuestBridge Supplement, as well as directions for how to complete MIT’s additional application requirements.
MIT’s application requirements are outlined here.
After you submit your MIT QuestBridge Supplement, you will be able to check the status of your application, as well as any additional materials that go along with it. All of this information will be viewable in your Applicant Status page, which can only be accessed after the supplement is completed.
The application fee is automatically waived for all Finalists. Non-Finalists may request a fee waiver on their application.
Yes, international students may apply to MIT through QuestBridge. MIT practices need-blind admissions for all students, regardless of country of citizenship. If you are admitted to MIT through the Match, you will receive the Match Scholarship. If you are admitted through Early Action or Regular Decision, MIT will assemble a financial aid package that will meet 100% of your demonstrated need.
Two teacher recommendations are required for the Match. MIT requires that at least one of the two required teacher recommendations come from a math or science teacher. If neither of the recommendations in your QuestBridge Application is from a math/science teacher, please submit per instructions on mitadmissions.org.
If your counselor/school official already sent an official transcript through the QB application, no further action is needed. If you did not submit an official transcript with your QB application, you will have the option to request one in the MIT Application Portal after you fill out your QuestBridge supplement.
MIT’s interviewers, called Educational Counselors (ECs), are alumni volunteers that conduct the interview in your area. You may be contacted by one of MIT's Educational Counselors (ECs) if there’s one available. ECs will typically use the email address you provided on your application to contact you, so please monitor your inbox and respond promptly. If MIT is unable to offer you an interview with an alumni volunteer, your interview will be waived, and your application will not be adversely affected.
MIT adheres to the same rigorous selection criteria in the Match as in the non-QuestBridge process. Additionally, applying through QuestBridge will not impact the amount of financial aid you receive from MIT.
MIT’s Match is not binding. MIT selects students that they feel will thrive in their community and, of course, hope that they elect to enroll. Students Matched with MIT, however, may apply to other schools Regular Decision.
MIT offers need-blind admissions for all students, regardless of citizenship. If you are admitted to MIT through the Match, you will receive the Match Scholarship package. If you are admitted through Early Action or Regular Decision, MIT will assemble a financial aid award made up of grants, scholarships, and possibly loan and work eligibility that will meet 100% of your demonstrated need. More information on financial aid is available here.
